    Deadline extension with authorization code

Taxpayers who have enlisted the help of the Belastingdienst or other social organisations in filing their 2020 income tax return will automatically have their deadlines extended until September 1, 2021. However, they need a DigiD authorization code for this. Under the same condition, this deadline extension also applies to the 2019 income tax return. So far, the Belastingdienst has not yet been able to assist taxpayers in completing the 2020 income tax returns on site due to the COVID-19 crisis. Social organisations that provide assistance in tax issues are struggling with the same problem. For this reason, the tax authorities are extending the deadlines for the submission of the 2020 and 2019 returns for taxpayers with a DigiD authorization code to September 1, 2021. Taxpayers with an authorization code will also be informed by the Belastingdienst. Other taxpayers who fear they will be unable to meet the deadline, can apply online for extension through Mijn Belastingdienst  or call the BelastingTelefoon before May 8. They will be granted extension of the deadline until September 1, 2021.
